About the Event

The Adaptation of Kodály-Inspired Education in Singapore

Workshop to include history, program growth, and materials used in the Kodály Academy of Music (KAM) founded and directed by Albert Tay in Singapore. Participants will interact with Albert Tay online in creating and leading singing games appropriate for lower and upper elementary and middle school. Albert will cover materials from Singapore, other parts of Asia, and world musics.

Albert Tay

Award-winning composer, conductor, educator Albert Tay is a global citizen and "playaholic" for whom "work" is play! When not composing, the thinker- innovator can be found guest-conducting, giving lectures, masterclasses, and adjudicating choral/ singing competitions around the world. Albert if the founding director of Kodály Academy of Music (KAM) where he leads diverse and dynamic teams of artists and administrators from different countires in spear-heading the Asia Kodály Symposium as well as provide direction and training for choirs. He is Artistic Director of Schola Cantorum Singapore Ltd., a non-profit choir collective. Albert was awarded the professional title of Magister Cori and an honorary membership by Association of Croatian Choral Directors. He is the first Singaporean recipient of the Hungarian Gold Cross of Merit, a state decoration conferred by the President of Hungary in 2021 for his efforts in promoting classical music and the Kodály concept in Asia.
