Clinician Bio

Dr. Stephen A. Paparo is Professor of Music Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and conductor of the University Chorale. He holds degrees from Michigan State University, Syracuse University, and Ithaca College, and is a Guild Certified Practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education. He is active as a presenter at international, national, and state conferences and guest conductor for all-state and honor choirs at all levels. He is a member of the editorial board for The International Journal of Research in Choral Singing. His research interests include the application of the Feldenkrais Method® in music education, non-traditional choral ensembles, and LGBTO studies in music education. He is published in leading journals and has contributed chapters for several Oxford Handbooks, including The Oxford Handbook of Music Performance and The Oxford Handbook of Care in Music Education. His compositions for beginning choirs are published by Alfred Music.
